Power-cat charter trend

Sunreef Yacht SOL Takes Strong Sustainability Stance: Megayacht News Onboard

One of the yachts on display at the Caribbean Charter Yacht Show this year is a new build that’s indicative of a recent trend toward chartering larger power catamarans: the 2023 eco-friendly, 80-foot Sunreef SÓL. She is being offered for charter this winter at a weekly base rate of $100,000 for eight guests. “We’re working with four Sunreef 80s in the Regency fleet, and people want them,” said Kathleen Mullen at Regency Yacht Charters, which manages SÓL for charter. “The Fountaine Pajot 67 is now kind of a normal-size boat, and the Sunreef 80s are the new, hot thing.”Mullen added, “We did have a few brokers who live in Newport see the boat recently. It’s up and functioning and gorgeous. There aren’t many inclusive-rate boats that are so huge and elegant and wonderful.”

Another yacht that’s expected to garner buzz this winter is the 236-foot CRN Arbema, which is scheduled to participate in the Antigua show. Edmiston, which manages the yacht for charter, says the 11-month, multimillion-dollar refit on the 2010 build will be completed in November. Inquiries are being accepted for winter charters starting at Christmas. Destinations can include the Caribbean, The Bahamas and Central America. “Her extensive refit includes a full paint job, major technical upgrades, new interior, upgraded toys and much more,” said Virginia Putignani, charter manager at Edmiston.
